Alexander Sylvester
My experience with artistic process and practice has always been an effort to provide some sort of impressionist artifact containing my thoughts and feelings either about a specific experience or train of thought I'm possessed by. Every medium I've worked in has been this way, but drawing seems to have been the most evident of this reality, the artifact manifesting as a charged object filled with internal process and intention. Artistic process is also simultaneously a place for me to put my obsessive behavior, because otherwise it doesn't seem to know where else to go and becomes reminiscent of stagnant water; inert and teeming with a certain toxicity that can only be alleviated through a proper, moving channel. I aim to express this energy through these artifacts, in hopes the process will bring me some temporary peace of mind as well as the final output will aid others in their own journeys.
