J. Gordon
I was initially trained as an oil painter, but my first love has always been drawing, specifically with graphite. The medium has a soft poetic quality that speaks to me, and I find my work drifts towards embracing the stark whiteness of an empty page, like a thick pale fog, from which I coax small spirits and creatures out of with small stones.
More recently my love of the brush and the calligraphic mark has brought me to ink and some of the painterly approaches I spent so many years with have found a new outlet intertwined with my drawing practice.
